Going to TAFE

Hobart Column

“Going to TAFE”

November 14th 2005

It was like yesterday that I thought I was going to finish school,
After these long years of learning nothing I eventually thought
about leaving after year 11 and going somewhere like get a job,
go to TAFE, apprenticeships even traineeships.
I decided that I was going to get an apprenticeship in the
areas of bricklaying rendering, concreting. Then I decided that I
wouldn’t enjoy it so I decided to get a job at kfc but then I got
over that and started thinking about TAFE my friend says its way
better than school.
I then thought deeply into this TAFE and asked about it I then got
some booklets and browsed about. I never had any desire of doing
anything in the music industry nothing at all until one day I was
looking through the TAFE book and saw technical production in
music and I thought that would be great I already no a lot about
that stuff cos I have made two albums and recorded other
people and set up live performances before and mixed live
performances so I thought I could do really well and I like that
sort of stuff. So next thing I was heading up Launceston a 2 and half hour drive.
I was thinking about this hard, TAFE in Hobart didn’t have anything
to do with music there so I would have to live up there in order to
do that course so was I willing to put all my friends, family and my
girlfriend aside??? I want to be the best, well I thought about Bret hart
and he told me that rising to the top involves giving yourself up to
loneliness, fearing nothing and working hard.
So I walked in the door with Maxine and mad jack and got an interview
and got enrolled, he says that he aint going to ask me anymore
question because he thinks I already know a lot by what I already
told him and he thinks ill get through.
I’m going to live at these units, for a year until next year.
