"School Memories"
Hobart column
I Started School at St Pauls in Bridgewater, Tasmania at the age of 6.
I went seven years there and went to St Virgil’s for high school in Austin’s ferry.
I then went to college for a year.
School days were the best days of my life ive got so many memories,
It was in grade 2 and was mucking around with my friend and i wanted
to give him the "stone cold stunner" so i kicked him right in the stomach
and pounded the crap out of my ass! as i drove his chin in my shoulder,
he got up, pushed me and we were enemies for a long time.
we became friends in grade three because he came up with the idea that
we should start singing in front of the school so i grabed my tambourine
and asked dad to teach my how to play it like a drum kit and there we
were playing infront of the school singing Hanson.
i thought i was really cool having this duo so we decided to get a
third singing and i was the leader of the band and it was like a big thing
everyone at the school was talking about this band that we had with
three singers and a tambourine and that was it.
i was kicking people out and getting other people in i thought i was just it.
i eventually kicked Jeremy out (mind you he was the guy who started this
whole thing) and we became enemies again, we didnt talk for months and
months then we graduated from primary school and went to high school
and everytime i would go to the bus stop Jeremy would throw rocks at me
and for months he would do that, im not quite shore what made us become
friends again but we have been friends ever since.
In grade 10 he came up with the idea we should go busking (id learnt
how to play guitar, infact i could play everything) id always put it off for
months until max got us a busking licence we went every weekend we
got up to about 80 bucks for 2 hours.
after a few months people including myself were telling me i should go by
myself because Jeremy couldn’t play anything and he would just sing
and his voice wasn’t very strong and i sung at the top of my lungs and
played guitar, so i finally decided to go by myself and we fought
over that and we didnt talk for a couple of weeks until we were in
class on day and i wrote him a quick letter and passed it on saying
sorry and that do you want to start busking again his reply was "sure bro".
We were back in the business and making a lot of money.
